So now I'm 32 years old and quite experienced with hetero sex and a complete virgin when it comes to sex with any other gender than cis male. I've fooled around with women before, kissing and heavy petting and such, but nothing I would describe as sex. It doesn't help that the lesbian cis women I personally know are Obviously notalllesbians, but every lesbian woman I've been close with has been very irritated by me identifying as bisexual if I haven't had sex with women. My best friend recently snapped at me that I'm just a fake bisexual for attention if I've never acted on it. Another friend told me that being bisexual was a privilege and I had no right to "whine" about the difficult aspects of it to her.

Most of the relationships which are visible to us at home, in society and in the media are straight relationships and most of us grow up thinking our relationships will follow suit - or feel that our relationships are expected to be straight. Around 1 in 10 people are gay, lesbian or bisexual. Most major UK cities have thriving LGBT lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities and there are plenty of ways to meet like-minded people. Some women know as children that boys are not for them. Others begin to be attracted to other women in their teens or early twenties.

When you're coming out of the closet, it can be hard to know where to meet other lesbians or bisexual women. If you're not sure where to begin, start with this list of the places where you're most likely to run into other lesbians and bisexual women. In many cities and small towns, the only place to meet other lesbians may be in the lesbian bar. You may find an open mic or karaoke night. Many gay and lesbian centers have support groups, rap groups, book and movie groups and political action activities.
According to the HRC , a bisexual person is someone who can be attracted to more than one gender. But while some people who are attracted to multiple genders may identify as bisexual, others may instead refer to themselves as pansexual , queer , fluid , or not use a label at all.
